Position Overview

This person is responsible for providing food service to residents and guests under sanitary conditions and for following all culinary functions. By virtue of education and or experience, the cook will perform duties listed to meet the objectives of this position.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Assist with preparing meals as directed by the scheduled menu and Culinary Manager or cook.
  2. Assist with monitoring food preparation and timeliness of serving; including compliance to all company, state and federal guidelines. Assist with monitoring food temperatures throughout cooking and serving.
  3. Provide customer service to residents during meal service. Serve food and drinks to residents during meal service.
  4. Must maintain kitchen cleanliness (clean all floor surfaces, countertops, cabinets, light fixtures, appliances, refridgerators (inside and outside), etc.
  5. Maintain kitchen organization; put things back where they belong.
  6. Complete cleaning of dishes and kitchen supplies as needed per state and federal guidelines.
  7. Ensure inventory of supplies, lables, dates and rotates as needed per state and federal guidelines.
  8. Monitor kitchen equipment condition including temperatures and chemicals used for equipment, report problems to Culinary Manager and/or Administrator
  9. Remove garbage.
  10. Work proficiently within various computer based software programs; ie. ECP, IPS, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age requirement is 18. Prior experience and training helpful. Complete all necessary trainings for the CBRF certification within the mandatory timeframes allotted by the State of Wisconsin.  Must complete and stay current with a minimum of 15 in-service hours required by the state of Wisconsin. Ability to communicate a concern or complaint in a constructive and professional manner following protocol. Must possess exceptional communication and problem solving skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of employees throughout Castle Senior Living. Must have the ability to work on a computer and learn new software.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, communicate verbally and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Proper lifting techniques are required.

Employee's job requires frequent:

  • Bending/Stooping
  • Squatting
  • Reaching
  • Crouching
  • Kneeling
  • Pushing/Pulling

      And occasional:

  • Crawling
  • Balancing

Lifting requirements:

  • Up to 30 pounds.  

Job requires employees to use both right and left hands for repetitive action such as: 

  • Simple and firm grasping
  • Fine Manipulation
